Glenview began as Berry Hill Estates which was owned by James S. Bate. In 1868 James C. McFerran, purchased Berry Hill making the estate a horse farm which was renamed as Glen View. John E. Green acquired Glen View after James McFerran's death in 1885 and renamed the farm Glenview Stock Farm. On May 11, 1893 Glenview received it's own post office.
Louisville’s wealthier families began to move east in the late 19th century and some of whom became full-time residents of Glenview. In 1877 Harrods Creek and the Westport Railroad had opened in part due to Glenview’s cooperation with its surrounding communities. By the 1950's The Westport Railroad had been abandoned.
Today Glenview is a small collection of country estates overlooking the Ohio River. The Glenview Historic District includes 13 properties named to the National Register of Historic Places and still maintains its regal country setting. Glenview is conveniently located close to shopping, restaurants, and expressways.
